Jim and Allan Ferrie started in business in 1982 shoeing all types of horses and supplying farriers locally with shoes and nails.

Both brothers compete locally and internationally and have gained local and international success. They have competed at Calgary World Championships for the last 16 years and have won the 2 man team event several times and Allan Ferrie won Stoneleigh International. The two men have also been Scottish Farrier Team Members for the last 17 years.

The Company provides its services to Glasgow Veterinary Hospital and shoes horses there once a week.

J & A Ferrie also make their own range of tools and exhibit these at trade fairs around the world.

Jim Ferrie F.W.C.F.

Jim Ferrie has been a farrier for the past 29 years, based in southwest Scotland.

Having attained the fellowship of the Worshipful company of farriers in 1982 he then progressed to become an examiner in 1984.

Jim was the winner of the W.C.F. Further Education Award (F.W.C.F. section) in its initial year - 1985, which then facilitated a short period of study in Sweden.

His business clientele varies from show ponies to Clydesdales and includes Glasgow Veterinary Hospital. A keen horse shoeing competitor, he has represented Scotland nationally and internationally.

Allan Ferrie

Allan Ferrie has been shoeing horses for a period of 24 years. He qualified RSS at 19 years, AFCL at 22 years and achieved his F.W.C.F. 3 years later. He is a member of the examination board and a livery man of London.

Allan has been married to Janice for 20 years and has 2 daughters, Jill and Karen. He spends most weekends travelling many miles with his daughters who are keen show jumpers. But whenever possible he fits in his other hobby - fishing.

He is in partnership with his brother Jim. Together they operate a Farrier and Farrier Supply business with 12 employees. The horse shoeing has a variety of horses from games ponies, top eventors, show jumpers, hunters and dressage horses. Specialising in corrective, remedial shoeing and lameness with local vets and Glasgow Veterinary College.

He is a keen competitor in horse shoeing competitions both nationally and internationally and has represented Scotland in their farrier team for 16 years. He has won both team and individual at Stoneleigh several times.
